2 days mount Bisoke hike will take you to northwestern Rwanda in volcanoes national park where you will hike mount Bisoke a dormant volcano raised at an altitude of 3,711m above sea level. Mount Bisoke is one of the 5 Virunga volcanoes in volcanoes national park and the other 4 mountains are Karisimbi, Gahinga, Sabyinyo, and Muhabura.

What makes Mount Bisoke a popular volcano is a crater lake at the summit and when you get to participate in the hike to the summit of this mountain, you have opportunities of meeting different mountain animals such as primates, buffaloes, elephants, bush pigs, birds, different vegetation covers, get to see Dian Fossey grave among others. At the summit of Mount Karisimbi, you will have several views of the surrounding mountains, twin lakes Ruhondo and Burera, Lake Kivu among others.

Day 1: Transfer to volcanoes national park

Day 2: Hike Mount Bisoke and return to Kigali

Day 1: Transfer to volcanoes national park

On the first day of your 2 days mount Bisoke hike, our English-speaking driver-guide will pick you up from the airport or hotel in Kigali and thereafter brief you about the journey and the whole safari. From your pick-up location, you will drive to the northwestern part of Rwanda in Musanze where Bisoke mountain is inside the volcanoes national park. Upon arrival at the park, you will check in to your booked accommodation for relaxation and later have lunch

After lunch, the driver guide will drive you to twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo which are located between the Uganda border and Musanze town. While at these twin lakes, you will have spectacular views of the surrounding beautiful scenery, Virunga mountains, watch local fishermen on the waters, local people cross, see different bird species herons, kingfishers, and cormorant among others. Later you will drive back to the lodge for accommodation and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Hike Mount Bisoke and return to Kigali

On the second day of your 2 days Mount Bisoke hike, you will have to wake up very early and have a morning breakfast after which the driver guide will transfer you to the park offices where you will get a briefing from the ranger guides. After the briefing, you will head to the starting point where you will meet armed ranger guides that will lead you to the summit of the mountain.

From the beginning point to the top of Mount Bisoke takes 4 hours and descending takes 2 hours. The armed ranger guides escort you to the summit of Mount Bisoke to protect you from dangerous wild animals likely to be met on the way such as buffaloes, forest elephants, giant forest hogs, bush pigs, duikers, and much more. You will meet different bird species, primates, and different vegetation covers among others.

Upon arrival at the summit of Mount Bisoke, you will have your packed lunch while having views of the crater lake at the top, surrounding places like the DR Congo border, the Virunga mountains, and much more. You can take as many photographs as you want and later you will start on your journey to the starting point with a second chance of meeting the park mammals, primates, birds and passing through different vegetation covers. Upon arrival at the starting point, you will meet your driver guide ready to transfer you back to Kigali city or Kigali international airport to end your 2 Days Mount Bisoke Hike.
