Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes Volcanoes National Park

Meet and greet our company representative for a quick briefing and drive to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze province for gorilla tracking experience the following day.  You will enjoy fantastic views of the rolling hills and green hill side vegetation of the country on your journey to the park. Check in and relax at Gorilla solution lodge

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking adventure and Iby’wacu Cultural village tour

Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kinigi park head offices by 7:00am for morning briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and allocation of gorilla families. Head into the park in search for the giant mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This takes approximately 1hour to meet the gorillas however, the trekking time is subject to their movement. Upon meeting them, you will spend one hour to take photos and later retrieve to the starting point to pick your certificates. Drive back to your lodge for lunch and later head out for the Iby’wacu Cultural tour for a clearer understanding of the Rwandese Culture. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla solution lodge.

Day 3: Kigali City tour and Departure

Have hearty breakfast at leisure and set off for Kigali for a City Tour to Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, National Museum and many other exceptional tourist centers within the city before drop off to either your reserved hotel or airport for departure flight to end your 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari.

What to note on 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Photography is permitted, although you must not use flash
Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are essential.
Gardening gloves for protection against stinging plants
Carry a rain jacket because the rain can be unpredictable in the virungas
Mountain gorillas live at high altitude and this may cause difficulties for some visitors. You should pace yourself and drink plenty of water. Eating, drinking and smoking near the gorillas is forbidden – designated time and place will be communicated.
Long trousers and long sleeved sweaters or shirts while in the forest to avoid insect stings.
Porters are available to help you carry your day pack for a small charge.

Best time to visit volcanoes national park for 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Although volcanoes national park can be visited any time of the year, there are types of weather that you would want to miss to see endangered mountain gorillas. Most travelers prefer drier months of the year because the trails are not sleeper and are easily accessed.

Dry season

The dry season goes from June to mid-September and again from December to February and this is the best time to visit volcanoes national park for those who want to trek gorillas and also do canopy walks because the trails are dry, not sleepery and are easily accessible. But since volcanoes national park has a tropical rain forest you are advised to carry a jacket just in case it rains.

Hiking Volcanoes National Park is much easier during dry season and game viewing is clear as most of the animals are near water sources drinking water because it’s a dry season meaning you have chances of seeing these animals converged in one place.

Wet season

The wet season in volcanoes national park runs from March to May and again from October to November and these are the rainy months in Rwanda. But these does not mean it will rain every day on your safari and if it does rain in Rwanda it rains a few hours and it shines the rest of the day not like unlike counties in west Africa. However those interested in birding this is their best time to visit Volcanoes National Park because in this season plants are flowering attracting birds.
