This 3 days Tour to Nyungwe forest national park and Lake Kivu introduces you to Rwanda for lifetime unique experiences with a visit to the King’s Palace and historical museums in Rwanda to learn more information on the cultural history of the country. The journey will take you deep into the jungles for a canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park and a memorable boat trip on fresh waters of lake Kivu.
Day 1: Pick up- Kings Palace- Ethnographic Museum
Meet your guide for briefing and drive for approximately 3 hours to Nyanza to visit the King’s palace museum. Later drive to Butare for a detailed tour to the national museum. Enjoy a traditional dance performed by Intore dancers before checking in to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight at Casa Hotel
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park- Canopy Walk
After breakfast transfer to Nyungwe forest national park to clear with park authorities to commence short guided trail to Igishigishigi for about 30 minute towards the starting point of the 2 hours ‘canopy trek to lead you to huge and ancient trees, watch different endemic plants and ferns species, as well as over 300 bird species. Have lunch at the Uwinka visitor Center and later drive to Kibuye for dinner and overnight Cormoran lodge.
Day 3: Boat on Lake Kivu to islands- Transfer to Kigali
Have breakfast and take boat cruise on Lake Kivu to bat’s islands commonly known as Napoleon Island to encounter fruit bats and Amahoro Island; popular for sundowner bar set up on the island seasonally! Come back to the main land for lunch and visit Kibuye’s Genocide memorial church above Lake Kivu and later drive to Kigali for a drop off.
