This 8 Days Rwanda Culture and Primate Safari takes you to Nyanza to visit Omwami palace and Rugarama hot springs. You will drive to Nyungwe forest national park for an amazing chimpanzee trekking tour and experience fantastic boat ride on lake kivu to encounter aquatic wildlife such as hippos and crocodile. The tour will also bring an opportunity to visit the Batwa people for cultural and community interactions before paying a curtesy visit to Kigali memorial genocide.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Nyungwe forest National park
Meet and greet our driver guide for a quick briefing and drive to Nyungwe forest national park. This park is a home to a number of chimpanzees and other unique primate species such as golden monkeys, vervet monkeys among others. We will have a stopover in Nyanza to visit the king’s palace before checking in to our booked lodge for diner and overnight at Nyungwe Hill top hotel
Day 2: Butare Cultural museum Tour
Have breakfast and drive to Butare Cultural museum for an excursion. This museum was built to commemorate the 1994 genocide that took place in Rwanda where many people lost their lives and property. After this heart saddening tour, head to Bugarama to explore stunning the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Hill top hotel
Day 3: Primate trekking & Lake Kivu adventure
Have breakfast and drive to Nyungwe forest national park headquarters for briefing about your primate trekking tour. Later start your adventure trail into the forest in search of Chimpanzees in their natural setting. During your trek, you may meet other forest primates such as Golden Monkeys, colobus monkeys, silver monkeys, vervet monkeys among others. Once you encounter chimps, watch them play and swing in the forest canopies. Retrieve to the starting point to meet your guide and them drive back to your lodge for lunch. Check out and head to lake Kivu for a boat ride. Dinner and overnight Gisenyi Public beach
Day 4: Explore Tour Ross Carr’s Orphanage
After a morning breakfast, drive to Ross Carr’s Orphanage which takes care of a good number of orphans; interact with the founders as well as the Orphans. You may donate a few gifts and later drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight at Chez Lando Hotel
Day 5: Transfer to Ruhengeri- Community visit
Have breakfast and drive to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri- a home to endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda! Check in to your booked lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the evening take to community tour to explore the unique culture of the surrounding community with a visit to local Dian Fossey projects. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking adventure and Iby’wacu Cultural village tour
Today is a highlight of your 8 Days Rwanda Culture and Primate Safari! Have an early morning breakfast and head to Kinigi park head offices by 7:00am for morning briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and allocation of gorilla families. Head into the park in search for the giant mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This takes approximately 1hour to meet the gorillas however, the trekking time is subject to their movement. Upon meeting them, you will spend one hour to take photos and later retrieve to the starting point to pick your certificates. Drive back to your lodge for lunch and later head out for the Iby’wacu Cultural tour for a clearer understanding of the Rwandese Culture. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel
Day 7: Explore Karisoke Gorilla Research Center
After breakfast, drive to Karisoke Research Centre to explore more history about gorillas This research centre was initiated by Dian Fossey who was a famous primatologist and cared for the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes national park of Rwanda. Later drive ack to the lodge for lunch and check out to proceed your journey to Kigali city. If time allows, we may visit major city attractions such moslem quarters in Nyamirambo, nyabugogo market and Kigali genocide memorial Centre. Dinner and overnight at Chez Lando Hotel
Day 8: Departure
Have breakfast ad drive to the airport to catch up with your flight back home with lifetime memories of your 8 Days Rwanda Culture and Primate Safari.
