3 days Congo gorilla tour from Kigali takes you to Virunga national park where mountain gorillas have found their home. The national park is a home of 8 mountain gorilla families that have been fully habituated and trekking each family is done by 8 people. A safari to Virunga national park will give you an opportunity to meet mountain gorillas for 1 hour and during this time, you will be able to watch them do daily activities, learn about their habits and take photos. On the 3 days Congo gorilla safari, you will also visit Lake Kivu where you will have a boat cruise before returning to Kigali.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer from Kigali

On the first day of your 3 days Congo gorilla tour from Kigali, you will be welcomed by our English safari driver guide from your hotel or Kigali international airport. The first thing he will do is brief you about the safari and the whole journey before taking you for Kigali city tour.

During the Kigali city tour, you will visit Kigali genocide memorial, Kimironko market, and art and craft shops where you can buy gifts for people back home. Later you will be driven to the Congo border and upon arrival, you will have some lunch, check-in at the immigration office and you will be handed over to the authorities of Virunga national park who will transfer you to the lodge.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking

On the second day of 3 days Congo gorilla tour from Kigali, you will wake up to a morning breakfast and meet your driver to transfer you to the park offices. At the park headquarters, you will meet park wardens who will brief you about the gorilla trekking activity, and then grouping is done. Each group will be given armed ranger guides to lead them into the jungle as they search for mountain gorillas and protect the trekkers from dangerous wild animals.

While searching for mountain gorillas, trekkers will be able to meet park animals such as warthogs, elephants, buffaloes, kobs, blue monkeys, chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, birds, and different plant species. Once you have located the mountain gorilla family you have been looking for, you will be given 1 hour to be around them learn about their habits, take photos, watch them do daily activities such as hunting, nesting, breastfeeding, and coupling among others. Return to the lodge for lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali and Lake Kivu boat cruise

After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and met your driver to transfer you to Lake Kivu. at Lake Kivu, you will have a boat cruise which will give you an opportunity to explore the lake, spot different bird species around the shores such as common waxbill, common krestel, speckled pigeons, among others. Later you will start on your journey back to Kigali city and you will be dropped off at your hotel or lodge.
